Great leaders are the ones you remember for the words they speak and you seem to hang one to every spoken word. These words make life changing decisions in our quest for better life. Having met Doc personally and exchanging a few words with him ,I will never forget his humor ,his passion for people, his caring and above all his humility . I remember one story he said during a team brief to all Toyota employees. He was at that time the director of sales and marketing in JHB. Sales was exceptionally good at that period and manufacturing could not keep up with supplying vehicles required by the sales div. So he spoke very kindly to the manufacturing director and asked him if he could speed up the manufacture of the cars . The manufacturing director told him "do you think that cars fall down from heaven ". Docs immediate reply was " when I get them they look like they fell from heaven because they have so many dents defects etc on them.
Doc is such a great loss to the Toyota family and to mankind . I pray that God will take care of his wife his daughters sons in laws and grandkids as this sad time . The family needs to know that Doc was loved and greatly admired by all Toyota employees in the Durban operations . RIP Doc we will miss you
