When I started working at Toyota SA 13 years ago I met Doc Johan Van Zyl at a lunch in the Museum Dining Room that were arranged for new employees.
Since that day I had the greatest respect for Doc because he was such a humble leader and gentleman. Treating each person as if they were the most important.
Whenever he walked past you anywhere in the Company he would call you on your name and ask you how are you doing. Could not believe that he would still remembered my name after only being introduced to him when I started at the Company and since then always remembered my name.
We were on holiday many years ago and their were a Toyota function. Doc walked up to my Husband and me when he recognized my face and asked if we were on holiday and had a conversation with us.
The last time I saw Doc was in May this year when we had a meeting with a Dealer and had coffee and snacks with our Dealers in the Museum after our meeting. Before Doc entered the meeting he had in the Dining Room with other Executives, he came up to us and greeted each and every one of us.
This is the Person Doc van Zyl were and I will always remember him for his friendliness and the fact that he was such a humble person.
Doc Van Zyl was a Legend and will forever be in our Hearts.
Rest in Peace our Hero Doc Van Zyl
